It also has a 360deg all-around bumper that simulates the bionic design of mom’s womb, ensuring that babies get the snugness they need to have a restful night.[3] It also has rounded sides to help prop up your little one when they’re awake and ready for playtime, so they won’t flop around.
The baby lounger is adjustable and grows with your baby, so you can use it as a bassinet, side sleeper, travel bed or newborn pillow as your little one grows. It can be easily adjusted to a smaller size by loosening the cord at the ends of the bumpers and it’s easy to open the bumpers to fully adjust it for bigger babies as well.

Baby Loungers
The best baby lounger can help you relax with your little one, and provide a safe, comfortable place for them to sleep. They’re also convenient for parents to use in various locations, such as in the car or at home.
A baby lounger is a soft pillow that’s designed to hold and cradle your baby while they nap or sleep. They may be made from cotton, wool or other fabrics and they are often lightweight and portable. [5]They’re easy to clean and can be used for many purposes.
They’re often used to hold a baby during nursing or bottle-feeding, tummy time, and sitting. Some are even used as a bed.
Most infant loungers are not safe for infants to sleep in because they can obstruct their breathing. They can also roll off of the lounger if they’re moving, which can increase their risk for SIDS.
This can also happen if the baby falls asleep in an inclined or upright position. Because of this, the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) recommends that babies should always be placed on their backs and not in an infant lounger or similar pillow.
Another risk is suffocation. This is a serious and potentially fatal problem. It’s caused by a baby’s head falling forward or backward, which can obstruct their airways.[6]
It’s also a problem if the baby is turned in a way that causes their face to enter the pillow, so their mouth and nose become obstructed. It can also cause them to roll off of the lounger and fall or be harmed, which can lead to injuries.
The CPSC says that infant loungers should not be used on any raised surface, such as tables or chairs. In addition, they should never be used in a crib, bassinet or play yard.[7]
Similarly, Boppy’s loungers are not designed for supervised awake time or to be used as a crib. The company recommends using them for tummy time or other baby support activities, such as nursing.
The best baby lounger is a product that can be used by both parent and baby and is made from a breathable material that can help keep your baby cool in the summer and warm in the winter.[8] Some are made from a special type of fabric called Tencel that has temperature-regulating properties and can absorb up to 50% more moisture than regular cotton. They are also hypoallergenic and washable.
What are baby loungers?
Infant loungers are products that are designed to cradle your baby while they’re awake. They may come with a gentler incline to help support their neck and back, or a C-shaped design that’s more supportive for nursing or bottle-feeding. They also often have a built-in safety harness that prevents them from falling.[9]
Many parents use infant loungers when they want to free up their hands so they can prepare dinner, check a schedule or give a sibling a hug. While these products are safe and helpful, they’re not without risks.
The main risk with baby loungers and similar pillow-like products is suffocation, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Suffocation is caused by a baby’s head falling back or forward or moving into a position that obstructs their breathing. It can also occur if a baby turns their head or rolls over while on the lounger.
These risks have led to the CPSC requiring companies to put warnings on baby loungers and similar products. The warnings say babies should not sleep on these products, and that any lounger with an incline should be used for awake time only.
Using baby loungers can cause babies to roll over while they’re asleep, a common condition known as “trapped air.” This situation is dangerous because the soft material of the lounger can trap them against the wall and keep their airway closed. This can cause babies to suffocate, says Nancy Cowles of Kids in Danger.[10]
Another suffocation risk with baby loungers is that babies can accidentally fall or roll off the lounger onto an external surface, such as a bed. This can result in their head, chest and arms hitting the floor.
This suffocation risk is particularly dangerous because newborn babies are still vulnerable to SIDS, which causes sudden infant death syndrome. The CPSC also advises that babies should always be placed to sleep on their backs.[11]
It’s not clear whether Boppy loungers are safe for sleeping, but they’ve been linked to eight deaths from suffocation. In 2021, the company recalled about 3.3 million of its newborn loungers after learning of the risk. In addition, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends keeping your baby’s crib or bassinet free of blankets, pillows and other objects that can increase the risk for suffocation.
How to Choose the Best Baby Lounger
If you’re looking for a safe and comfortable place for your baby to rest during supervised nap time or bedtime, a baby lounger is a great option.[12]
However, there are a few things you should keep in mind before purchasing one. For starters, angled loungers can be dangerous since they can obstruct your baby’s airways and increase the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
DockATot Baby Lounger
DockATot baby loungers are made from high-quality materials, are easy to clean and come in a variety of patterns and colors. They are also available in several sizes, making them suitable for newborns as well as toddlers.
They are great for tummy time and playtime but are not designed to be used as a sleeping station. It is important to ensure that you practice safe sleep guidelines when using any lounger.[13]
The DockATot does not have breathable mesh sides like other safer options, which can be dangerous if your baby rolls over while asleep. This can cause them to suffocate, as their face is against the puffy rails on the sides.
Babies can be picky about where they hang out, so it is important to make sure that you choose a place that is safe and secure. DockATots are a safe option for lounging but should only be used in supervised environments.
There have been a number of cases where infants have died while using DockATots, so it is important to practice safe sleep guidelines. This means never putting your baby in the lounger for sleep without being close to them, and always keeping the baby on a soft surface[14].
DockATot is the most popular baby lounger on the market and has a number of benefits. Besides providing a comfortable and cosy place for your little one to rest, it can also help them settle down in new surroundings, such as an evening out or when they are on holiday. They are also super easy to clean and can be used in different rooms of the house for tummy time or playtime.

There are a number of types of baby loungers available, and some are more useful for certain applications than others. Some are a great place for tummy time, and some provide an ideal play-and-sleep space for babies up to 8 months old.
One popular type is the baby pod – or cocoon. These are made from soft fabrics and are breathable to give your baby a comfy and comfortable place to sleep, play or relax. They can be used from birth to around 6 months (or less if your baby is long or big).
However, pods are not suitable for use on a sofa, bed or mattress as they can tip and fall. So, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions when using a pod and make sure to sit it on a flat, firm surface.
Baby nests have gained popularity in recent years, and many parents enjoy the feeling of cuddling their little ones in them. They mimic the environment of a mother’s womb, which is where babies spent most of their first nine months.[16]
