This study included qualitative and quantitative methods for generating evidence-based principles and standards for the remote consultations process. In Scotland, the implementation of video consultations was studied in two mixed-method case studies. Researchers recorded both ends of remote consultations to understand the quality of clinician-patient interaction. The case studies also included organisational changes and the use of remote digital services. The SCALS study included qualitative and quantitative case studies of remote consultations in health care.

The IRIHS is a research unit within the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. Its mission is to conduct high-quality interdisciplinary research, teaching and applied scholarship.
