How to Disable Google Lens? If you aren’t a fan of the new Google Lens feature that has popped up on your search bar, there is a way to disable it.[1]
If you have a Chrome browser, all you need to do is type chrome://flags into the address bar. Once you get there, find the #context-menu-translate-with-google-lens flag and select Disabled from the drop-down menu.
Disable Lens Image Search With Chrome Flags
One of the more useful Google Lens features is the ability to perform a reverse image search on an image. This is great for creatives and photographers as it can reveal instances where a photo has been used without credit, possibly revealing copyright infringement. [2]While Google Lens replaced the ‘Search Google for image’ right-click option, it is still possible to disable it using Chrome flags. You can enable or disable this feature by entering chrome://flags/#enable-lens-region-search into your Chrome address bar. This is available with the latest Chrome Canary build and will likely be added to the stable version soon.
Google also recently announced a dedicated screenshot tool that will allow users to capture webpages and share them across platforms, much like Microsoft Edge does now for desktop browsers.[3]
Use Old Reverse Image Search in Chrome
A reverse image search of any photo on the Internet is an easy way to find out where it first appeared. It can also help find unauthorized uses of images that may be in violation of copyright. Fortunately, Google Lens did not eliminate the ability to do reverse image searches via a right-click in Chrome.[4] It was a simple Chrome flag that one could enable and disable, and it’s quite easy to restore the option to search Google for an image from the right-click menu. To do this, simply enter chrome://flags/ into the Chrome address bar and click Enter. The changes will take effect the next time you relaunch Chrome.
Disable Lens Using Chrome Flags on Android
If you don’t like Google Lens and want to get rid of the “Search Google for this image” option, you can easily disable it using a simple Chrome flag. Currently, the feature is available in the Chrome Canary build, but it will be coming to stable versions soon as well.[5] To enable the new screenshot tool, just navigate to the “Chrome flags” section and look for the entry named “Search your screen with Google Lens.” Then, toggle on or off as you wish. The screenshot tool will capture the webpage, and you can save it to a clipboard or share it on other devices.
Enjoy Chrome Without Lens Search
Google is set to replace the traditional’search for this image’ option with Google Lens in Chrome, and will soon also add support for a dedicated screenshot tool. This will allow anyone to take a snip of any webpage in the browser and save it to a clipboard, which they can open later.[6] It’s currently available in the Chrome Canary build, and may come to stable versions soon. This is a useful feature, especially for photographers and creators, as it can help them find instances where they have used their own work without permission or copyright infringement issues.
How to Disable Google Lens on Chrome for Desktop

What is Google Lens?

Google has long offered its visual search feature on Android devices through the company’s mobile apps, but now it’s making it available to desktop users. This is great news for those who prefer to use Chrome on their laptops and desktops, as this feature will now be more readily accessible than ever before.
If you have Google Lens enabled on your computer, any time you go to search for an image from the web in Chrome, you’ll see a new Google Lens icon on the right side of the page. When you click it, a new tab will open where you can view the results from the search.[9]
However, if you’d rather see results in a more modern-looking panel to the right of the image on your screen, it’s easy to disable Google Lens. To do so, just follow the steps below.
First, install the latest version of Chrome on your PC or Mac. Next, head to the ‘Flags’ menu in your browser and scroll down to ‘Settings’.
Finally, you’ll need to enable ‘Reverse Image Search’ in Chrome’s settings. This will make it possible to reverse the image search on your computer, so that you can find out which websites have used an image without a link.
In the past, you would have to drag and drop an image into a box to discover which other sites have used it. But this method isn’t quite as intelligent, and doesn’t let you see all the contexts that an image has been used in.[10] With this new feature, you’ll be able to find out all the details of an image, including its shopping elements if it’s been used on a retail site. This is particularly useful if you’re looking for an item that doesn’t have a label or barcode on it and want to find out how much it costs.
How to disable Google Lens
Google Lens is an image search tool that lets you identify objects, people and locations by pointing at them. It’s available as a standalone app on Android devices and is also built into the Google search app on iOS.[11]
To use this feature, you simply need to open the Chrome web browser on your computer, then go to a website that contains an image that you want to search. Next, right-click on the image and select “Search images with Google Lens.”
When you do this, you’ll be able to find all sorts of useful information about the photo. For example, you’ll be able to find out where the photo was taken, see visual matches, and get text or a translation from the image.
Similarly, you’ll also be able to search for related images and find out where the image has been used elsewhere.[12] If you’re a photographer, this is an especially useful feature.
You can also add this to your lock screen for quick access, as you can do with many other Google tools. You can even create a dedicated app feature widget that lets you select the tool you need to perform a more specific task, such as translating an image or shopping online for a product featured in the image.
If you haven’t tried this yet, it’s well worth the effort. It’s an easy and fun way to identify people, animals, plants, landmarks, and other things you can’t quite see from the ground.
The feature isn’t limited to desktops, though; you can also search for images on Chrome on your mobile device if you have the latest version of the browser installed. Alternatively, you can also use the Google app on your Android phone or iPhone to search for photos by tapping on them in the camera roll and then using the arrows to scroll left or right to find what you’re looking for.[13]
If you’re not keen on the idea of a dedicated app feature widget, you can still disable Google Lens by turning off the corresponding option in the settings menu for Chrome. Just make sure that you have the correct version of Chrome installed and the latest version of the Google search app.
Disable Chrome’s Lens Search Option on Android
Google Lens is a great way to search the web with your phone’s camera, letting you translate and copy text, identify plants and animals, find products, and more. The feature has already been rolled out on Android, but now it’s making its way to Chrome for desktop as well.
When you right-click an image on a website, you’ll see a menu appear with the option to ‘Search Google for this image’. While this is a useful function, you can now disable it by changing the code in Chrome’s flags.[14]
The change was first spotted by Redditor Leopeva64-2, and if you’ve never heard of Google Lens before, it is a computer vision search tool which is part of the Google app on many Android devices. The feature allows you to tap on an object in an image and then scroll through its details to discover what it is, where it came from, or where it has been used before.

Now, it seems like the Google team is working on a new ‘Search Companion’ feature that will make it even easier to find things in the future. It will send information about the page you’re on to Lens, and the company is reportedly planning to include the feature in Chrome’s side panel.[16]
While this is a great idea, it does raise questions as to whether or not Google should have the ability to access a screenshot in the same way that it can capture an image. Since screenshots don’t provide a lot of additional information, they aren’t always useful for this purpose.
In this case, it might be better to use a third-party screenshot tool that will support the Lens feature. There are a number of options out there to choose from, so it’s important to choose the one that suits you best.[17]
Turn Off Chrome’s Lens Search Feature on Desktop
Google Lens has been a popular search feature on smartphones, and now it’s making its way to the desktop version of Chrome. The company’s computer vision software lets you scan images and use AI to identify objects, find products, and even translate text on your screen without needing a camera.[18]
You can access the Lens feature in Chrome by right-clicking an image and choosing “Search with Google Lens”. It will bring up a new tab that is processed through Lens to find content related to that image.
There are a few other things you can do with Lens, including searching for an item in a video and identifying plants and animals. In addition, Google will show you QR codes that can be used to discover more information about an item or get a reverse image search.
It’s also possible to search for items using a specific URL by dragging and dropping it into the search box. This is helpful if you have a screenshot of an image and need to search for the website it came from.[19]
Alternatively, you can use the browser’s ‘Present’ feature to remove page distractions and focus on a document or presentation in full-screen mode. However, this is only available in Canary builds at the moment.
Another useful feature is the ability to track items you’re shopping for online. This will enable you to see discount codes that are currently available from the retailer and automatically show them up at checkout.[20]
In addition, this feature will also let you check if the item is in stock or back-ordered. It’s a great way to save money when shopping for an item you love.
To use this feature, you need to update your Google Chrome browser to the latest version. In addition, you’ll need to turn on the new feature.
It’s worth noting that Google is testing this feature on a Canary build of the Chrome browser right now, so it’s possible that it might be unstable at the moment. However, it’s an important step towards bringing Lens to the desktop.
