Apple Music is now available to stream on Google Assistant-enabled smart speakers and displays like Nest Audio, Nest Hub Max, and Nest Mini.[2] To play music on these devices, you’ll first need to link your Apple Music account in the Google Home app.

Once your account is linked, you’ll need to tell Google Assistant what music you want to listen to, and it will search and play your music library for you. This is especially helpful if you’re not sure what you’re looking for, as it can help you narrow your options and find something you actually like.

This is great news for Google Assistant users, as it means they’ll finally be able to take full advantage of the built-in Assistant on their Nest smart speaker systems. This includes controlling their lights, thermostats, and locks using their voices, as well as streaming tunes from WiFi-connected speakers.[3] It’s just one of many things that make the budget-friendly, smart-home-friendly Nest Audio an excellent choice for Apple Music fans who have an existing subscription. Hopefully, this will prove to be an interesting new partnership for the two companies.

How to Use Apple Music With Google Home

Google has added Apple Music to its list of compatible streaming services that can be played through its smart speaker and display devices. Now, owners of Google Nest and other Assistant-enabled speakers can play songs, albums, and playlists from Apple Music with their voice after linking their accounts in the Home app.

This new integration makes Google Assistant much more capable when it comes to playing music, and it’s now rolling out to Nest Audio, Nest Hub Max, and Nest Mini speakers. [4]You can now ask Assistant to search for and play Apple Music’s library by artist, song, or playlist, and you can also tell it to pull up your favorite songs based on genre, mood or activity.

The new feature is currently available in the US, UK, France, Germany, and Japan. However, it’s still not available in India. The company said that it’s working to bring it to other regions as well, but it doesn’t seem likely that it will happen anytime soon. Until then, you can always stream your favorite music from other sources with the help of Amazon Alexa. For now, though, Apple Music is a great way to listen to your favorite tunes when you’re on the go.[5]

Does Apple Music Work with Google Home?

Google Home is an excellent smart speaker that makes your life a lot easier by helping you make calls, change the volume, cook with step-by-step instructions, read the news, control your compatible smart home devices, pair with other Bluetooth speakers, and many more. However, if you’re an Apple Music subscriber, you may have wondered whether it’s possible to play the streaming service on your Google Home device.[6]

The good news is that Apple Music does work with Google Home, and it’s a fairly simple process. You just have to link your account to the Google Home app and set Apple Music as your default music service. Once you’ve done that, all you need to do is say “Hey Google” and your smart speaker will play any Apple Music tracks you ask it to play.

But it doesn’t work everywhere. If you’re out of the US, UK, France, Germany, and Japan, for example, you’ll have to use a different method for playing Apple Music on your Google Home.

One way to play Apple Music on your Google Home is by connecting the speaker to your iPhone or Android device over Bluetooth. [7]This is a pretty straightforward procedure, but you’ll have to do some work first to remove the DRM copyright protection from Apple Music songs. Another option is to convert Apple Music songs into MP3 files and upload them to your Google Play Music account.

To get started, open the Google Home app and tap the “Music” tab. Here, you’ll see an option to “Link Account.” Just tap this and sign in to your Apple account, then “Allow.”

Once you’ve done that, you’re all set to listen to Apple Music on your Google Home speaker. Just say “Hey Google, play (song name)” and your speaker will play any Apple Music tracks you asked it to.[8]

To manually control the music, just tap the “Media” icon in the Google Home app and you’ll be able to pause, skip, previous/next song, and adjust the volume. If you have multiple Google Home speakers in your home, you can even control them all with multi-room audio.

If you’re an Apple Music subscriber, you’ll be happy to know that you can now stream your favorite songs and albums from the streaming service to your Google Home speakers. You’ll need to link your account in the Google Home app and then bark a command to play your music.[9]

The feature is now rolling out to Nest Audio, Hub Max and Mini devices as well as Google Assistant-enabled displays in the US, UK, France, Germany and Japan. It’s a welcome addition to the growing list of music services that support Google Home, including YouTube Music, Spotify, Pandora, Deezer, and more.

To get started, simply head to the Google Home app on your iOS or Android device and select ‘Settings.’ Under this option, scroll down to ‘Services’ at the bottom and ‘Music.’ Next, select ‘Apple Music.

Alternatively, you can also tell your Google Assistant to “play K-Pop Hits playlist.” This is the same functionality that Spotify has had for years, and it’s a great way to get your favorite music into your home without having to hook up a set of speakers or a media player.

Once you’ve set Apple Music up on your Nest speakers, you can then play any song or album in the system by just saying “Hey Google, play X”. You can also use your voice to ask Assistant for playlists based on genre, mood or activity.[10]

While you‘re at it, you should consider installing the TuneIn Radio app for some of the best audio from podcasts and news shows on the market. It’s a must-have if you like to listen to radio while on the go, and it will also give you access to thousands of stations on demand. Moreover, the Todoist app is a must-have for those who need to stay organized in their life. It’s one of the most useful apps that connects to Google Home and makes it easier for you to keep track of your daily to-dos and tasks.

Google Home and Nest devices now support Apple Music, bringing its unlimited streaming service to an increasing number of users around the world. The feature started rolling out last year in the US, UK, France, Germany, and Japan, but now Australia, Canada, India, and Mexico are joining in.[11]

To enable the feature, all you have to do is link your Apple Music account in the Google Home app and choose it as your default music service. You can then use voice commands to play your music. You can also ask Google Assistant to search for songs, albums and playlists by genre or activity.

Nest is also implementing Google Assistant into the company’s latest home security camera, the $299/PS299/AU$479 Nest Cam IQ Indoor. The device will come with a free update that adds Google Assistant, which will allow you to control the camera by asking “Hey, Google.” This is part of a push by Nest to stick the voice-assistance software in every home product that it offers. However, the functionality is limited to certain functions.[12] For instance, it can’t make calls or tell you the latest news. If you want to use it for more than basic voice-activated functions, it’s best to buy a separate Google Home speaker.

Set Apple Music as your default music service

Apple Music is one of the best music streaming services around, and a great way to discover new artists and albums. Its intelligent features make it stand out from other services, including creating playlists and adjusting equalizers to enhance audio quality. However, connecting Apple Music to your Google Home device can pose some challenges for users who have a lot of music stored on their computers.

To avoid this, Apple has added a simple feature that makes it easy to sync your Apple Music library to your computer. Simply connect your iPhone to your PC with a USB cord and the Music app will automatically start recognizing all songs on your device.[13]

The app also includes a number of other features to make it easier to manage your music library, including an automatic backup of your songs to the cloud. Additionally, Apple has announced that every song in its catalog will now support Dolby Atmos and Lossless audio by June 21, which is a huge win for consumers. This will allow you to listen to high-quality Hi-Fi sound on any compatible Apple device, from the iPhone X down to AirPods. It’s the perfect solution for those who want to experience the full potential of their Apple Music subscription.

Does Google Assistant Work With Apple Music?

Apple’s music streaming service has a huge fan base and a price that’s comparable to Spotify and Amazon Music. However, it’s not as well integrated with other services as rivals like Spotify and Google Play Music.[14]

Earlier this year, Apple added support for Apple Music on its HomePod devices and Amazon’s Echo speakers. Now, it appears that Google is looking to do the same thing with its Assistant-powered smart speakers.

With the help of a recently released update, it’s now possible to add Apple Music as an available music service in Google’s own app for Google Home and the Home Max. In fact, it’s even possible to set the service as the default music provider, so that when you say “Hey, Google, play New Music Daily” or “Okay, Google, play my songs,” the smart speaker will start playing music from Apple’s service.

To connect Apple Music to your Google Home speaker, all you need to do is link your account to the Google Home app on iOS or Android. Next, select ‘Music’ under the ‘Services’ tab in the Home app and then ‘Apple Music’ to link your Apple Music account.[15]

Once you’ve connected Apple Music to your device, it will be available to search and play by voice through Google Assistant on Nest devices (including the recently announced Nest Audio, Hub Max, and Mini) in the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, and Australia. You can also use voice commands to search and play by genre, mood or activity.

It’s worth noting that while this is a great step forward for users who want to enjoy Apple Music on their Nest devices, it doesn’t make much sense if you’re already using a competing service like Spotify or YouTube Music. You’ll still need to connect a Bluetooth device, which may or may not be convenient, to stream music from these services to your Nest speaker.
