Google Docs and Languages – Options for Every Job

How to Change Language on Google Docs? Google Docs is a word processing program that allows users to create and edit documents online.[1]It also allows multiple people to work on a document in real time with automatic updates of changes they make, which increases team productivity.

The program is easy to use and aimed at both individual and business users. It includes a number of important features, such as spell check and grammar check.

As you may have noticed, there are a number of different language options available in Google Docs. These options include English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Russian.[2]

These languages are supported by Google’s built-in translation tool, which allows you to convert a file from one language to another. The only caveat is that this service limits the size of files you can translate to 1 MB.

If you need to work with larger documents, you may want to use an add-on for Google Docs. These are typically free to download and install from the Google Workspace Marketplace.[3]

There are many additional functionalities that can be added to Google Docs, including a range of text editing and input methods. There are also a variety of fonts, as well as spellchecking and grammar check services.

You can also add visual elements to your document by importing them from Draw or an other Google app. For example, if you’re creating a chart, you can add a custom image or drawing.[4]

These can be useful when you’re working with a lot of information and need to ensure everyone is on the same page. These elements are also compatible with Google Drive, which is a great way to store your documents in the cloud and share them with others.

If you’re a writer, you can also use Google Docs to add your byline or signature. It’s a quick and easy process that can be done from any screen.[5]

If you’re looking for a way to easily translate your document, Google Docs is an excellent option. It offers a wide range of language options, as well as an easy-to-use interface that can be used on any internet-connected device.

How to Change the Interface Language

In Google Docs, there are two separate languages you can use to access your documents: a logon language and a display language. [6]The logon language is what the user selects when he or she logs in, and the display language is what all of the user interface text is displayed in (for example, menu texts). You can set your preferred logon language in your personal settings.

The default language is defined for your organization, and each site can be configured to have its own default language (see General Properties). This allows you to have different language versions of the same application available, or to have multiple UI elements in one language, and another in a different language.

Depending on your needs, you can also set a default interface language for each process (see Setting a Default Interface Language). [7]This will help to ensure that all front-line workers are able to view the corresponding documentation in the language they need to work in.

To change the default language of a document, you can go to the Document tab and click on the Default Language dropdown box to choose the desired interface language. This will make all of the user interface elements in that language available to your users.[8]

However, this option will only apply to a single document at a time. If you have a large number of documents and want to change the interface language for all of them, you may want to consider using the Multi-language Add-on instead.

This add-on lets you set up a map of your profile field values to the different available languages in Google Apps. You can also configure a message that will be displayed on content and places that tells the user that the content or place is also available in their selected language.[9]

This option is very useful for making a specific type of template or interview available to users in their native language. It can also be used to change the format of number and date variables.

How to Change the Default Interface Language

If you need to change the interface language on your Google docs account, there are a few different ways that you can do so. The first method involves changing the default interface language that is used when you log into your account.

The second option is to add a new interface language. This can be helpful if you have a lot of different users on your account and you want to make sure that each person has the best experience possible.[10]

A third way to change the interface language on your account is to use the Multiple Languages Add-on. This add-on allows you to configure several different languages, and it automatically chooses which one is the default interface language for all users.

It also allows you to map Profile Field values against the available languages that are selected in this setting, ensuring that fields in the application are mapped accordingly. You can even create a message that will be displayed on content and places to tell the user that the content or place is also available in their selected language.[11]

You can even customize the default interface language to be a combination of the user’s native language and the local language that the user’s computer is set to. This is especially useful if you have a multilingual department, as it will allow your employees to work in their preferred language without having to switch the application’s interface to another language.

Finally, you can also change the language that HotDocs uses to format the Date and Number variables it gathers from a template (or that are passed from system functions such as TODAY). You can do this by adding a LANGUAGE instruction at any point in the template.[12]

Unlike other instructions, however, the LANGUAGE instruction does not require an END statement. This means that it applies until you remove the instruction.

You can also change the interface language on your account by replacing local templates and help files with ones that are fully translated. You can do this by selecting the user interface language, a local template, and a help file in the User Preferences dialog box.

How to Add an Interface Language

If you’re using Google Docs or Google Slides, you can add an interface language to change the default language.[13] This can help you avoid having to switch back and forth when you need to access a document in your preferred language.

To do this, you can go to your account settings and select the option for “Language.” Once you’ve selected this, you can choose your preferred interface language from the dropdown menu. If you have multiple languages installed, you can also add an interface language for each one of them.

The easiest way to do this is by installing a third-party add-on, such as Easy Accents. It works by grabbing text from Docs, Sheets or Slides and displaying the text in its native language as well as English.[14] It can be used by those who don’t speak English well or simply need to translate their texts into another language.

To use this add-on, you need a Google Account (as with most other Add-ons), and permission to access the account. It can be installed by visiting this page and clicking “Install.” Then you need to grant the add-on permission to access your documents. Once you’ve done this, you can start using the add-on! It is available for over 28 different languages, including English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Ukrainian and Italian. It can also automatically rewrite texts and change spell check to the new language.[15]

How To Change a Document’s Language

You can change a document’s language on Google Docs by using the Advanced HotDocs Field Editor Tool. The best part is that you can add and link to a language file in the same way as you would a template. Once you’ve added the translations, the default text is automatically rewritten in the new language. In addition, the language file will appear in the drop-down list of available languages when you select a format, making it easier to select a specific language for your template.

Unlike some of the other HotDocs features, this one doesn’t require an END statement. In fact, a LANGUAGE instruction can be added anywhere in the doc and will apply to the scope of operations from where it is inserted until you delete it. That being said, the LANGUAGE command is only available to users who have access to the advanced HotDocs Field Editor Tool and an appropriate language code.
