You can easily create a Google Form quiz from scratch. Just make sure your form is set up as a quiz and then select the option to add an answer key for each question. This will allow you to set a point value for each question and make it easier for students to know what they’re expected to do.
Grading with the answer key

There are also response validation options that you can use to ensure that the student enters their answer correctly. These include number, text, and regular expression.
Depending on the type of answer, these options can be used to prevent users from entering incorrect numbers or a large amount of text. These features can also be set to notify the responder if they’ve entered a number that doesn’t fall within the specified range.

How to Add Correct Answers to Google Forms

Create a Google Form

You can use a masked text field to limit the answers your respondents can provide. This feature is useful when you want to collect responses in a specific format and eliminate unrelated answers. It can be easy to set up and only takes about a minute.[10]
To add a masked text field to your Google Form, you must go to the Question section of the form and select the option “Add a field.” This will enable the masked text field in your Form.
Another way to add correct answers to your Google Form is by using the built-in answer key. This can be helpful when creating quizzes or other quick assessments.
Quizzes and other quick assessments can be scored automatically in Google Forms by entering point values in the Answer key section of each question. This can save time by eliminating the need to manually enter the points into each question, which can lead to a clumsy process.[11]
In addition, a quick script can be added to the Form that will change all the sections to “Submit form”. This is a useful feature if you have multiple questions and don’t want to have to change them each time a user submits the Form.
You can check student responses on your Form by clicking the Responses tab at the top of the Form. This will open a spreadsheet of the Student responses in a new tab.
Alternatively, you can make a copy of your Form and share the link with your students via email or via any other means you typically use to send links to your students. This can be especially helpful if you have a Google Slides activity that contains an assessment question.
You can also add a timer to your Form and force the user to submit the Form after a certain amount of time. This can be helpful if you want to ensure that your students have submitted their Forms before the specified time.
Turn the Google Form into Quiz
Once the quiz is ready, you can use it to check student attendance or as a formative assessment. You can also make a Google spreadsheet from the responses, which is useful for checking students’ work. You can use the spreadsheet to show students their missed questions and correct answers. You can also release their scores to them, which will send an email with the quiz info.[12]
If you’re going to use a Google Form for your students’ responses, you should add an answer key to each question so that the correct answers are automatically attributed points. This will ensure that students’ answers are correctly graded and will help you get a more accurate report of their progress.
To do this, simply click on the “Answer key” button in the bottom left of each question. You can choose the “Required” option for questions that ask “name”, “student number” or “email address”.
Assigning a point value to a question will allow Google to grade the answers and add them to the results page, so you’ll have an accurate view of their progress. You can also assign a point value to selected-response questions, if you’d like to add more information about each answer.
In addition, you can use the gform_quiz_show_choice_values filter to edit the values of the choices in your form before they’re submitted, which can help you ensure that your students’ responses are correct and accurate. Keep in mind that editing the values will alter the data on the entry detail page and the results page, so you should only do this if you’re sure that the changes won’t affect the integrity of your results.[13]
Similarly, you can use the gform_quiz_weighted_scores filter to set a weighting for each choice in your quiz. This will allow you to create complex scoring systems for your quiz. However, the total score for your quiz will not be allowed to fall below zero if this is used.
You can also use the gform_results_cta_button filter to control the CTA button displayed for each response. This is particularly useful if you want to change the message on your CTA buttons depending on the score the students have received in the quiz.
Provide Response Settings for the Google Form Quiz

You can also set a scale, grid, or date or time for your questions.
There are also ways to customize the look and feel of your quiz, such as changing its theme or color scheme. In addition, you can choose how responses are stored in your spreadsheet and in the summary of responses.[15]
Once you’ve finished completing the quiz, it’s time to review the individual responses and make sure each student has received the correct points for their answer. This is done by clicking the Responses tab, which is at the top of the Form.
If you want to give individual feedback on each response, you can do so by clicking Add Individual Feedback. This is a quick way to send individual comments to your students after they complete the quiz, without needing to manually grade each response.[16]
In the Presentation tab, you can opt to let your respondents see a progress bar when they’re close to the end of the form and shuffle the question order. You can also set a confirmation message that will be displayed once your respondent has completed the form.
When you’re ready to send out the quiz, click the “Send” button at the top of the Form. Then, you can copy and paste the link in an email message or chat, embed it on a website, share it on social media, or send it directly to anyone who needs to take the quiz.[17]
